Quick start
From nothing to asking Claude about your store
The short version, end to end: connect your Shopify store, add Mercopilot to Claude, ask it something. Five minutes, four steps, one address to paste.
- About 5 minutes
- Nothing to install
- No API key needed
This is the express route. It takes the one path that works for most people and skips every alternative. For the other ways in — ChatGPT, the connector directories, Claude Code, and what to do when a step goes wrong — take the Shopify guide and the Claude guide instead.
Connect your Shopify store
Create a Mercopilot account, then open Stores in your dashboard and type your store's domain:
Your myshopify.com domainyour-store.myshopify.comShopify asks you to approve the install. Approve it, and you land back on your dashboard with the store listed.
Copy the Mercopilot address
This is the only thing you have to paste, and it's the same for every store:
MCP server URLhttps://api.mercopilot.com/mcpThere's no API key to generate. Claude signs in to Mercopilot the same way you do.
Add it to Claude
Open Settings → Connectors — your profile picture on claude.ai, or Ctrl ⌘ + , in the desktop app. Click Add → Add custom connector, name it Mercopilot, paste the URL, and click Add.
Then click Connect on the new entry. A Mercopilot window opens: sign in, pick your store, click Authorize. The window closes on its own.
In Claude Code it's one command instead, then /mcp to sign in:
Terminalclaude mcp add --transport http mercopilot https://api.mercopilot.com/mcpSwitch it on and ask
Connectors are off by default in each conversation — this is the step people miss. Start a new chat, click + next to the message box, choose Connectors, and toggle Mercopilot on. Then ask:
“How is my store doing this month?”
“Where am I losing money right now?”
“Which slow sellers should I discount, and by how much?”
Anything that changes your store — a price, a title, stock, a discount — is shown to you for approval before it happens.
If it doesn't answer
- Claude says it has no access, or just answers from memory
- The connector is off for that conversation. Connectors are per-chat: open the + menu next to the message box and switch Mercopilot on, then ask again.
- It says there are no stores on your account
- The connection worked, but step 1 did not finish. Connect Shopify from your dashboard and ask again — nothing here needs redoing.
Anything else, the full guides have it. Claude, in detail

Stop asking “how many orders did I get?” Start asking what to fix first
Connect Shopify and see where the money is going — the best seller about to run out, the stock that has stopped moving, the listings costing you the sale. Every fix comes with what it's worth, and getting it done is one word away.
- See the biggest wins first
- Finds it, then fixes it for you
- Catch lost sales before they happen
