Setup guide
Connect Mercopilot to Claude
Add Mercopilot to Claude once, and you can ask it about your Shopify store — what's selling, where you're losing sales, what to fix — in any conversation. No dashboard, no exports, nothing to install.
- About 2 minutes
- Works on any Claude plan
- No API key needed
Before you start
- A Mercopilot account with your Shopify store connected. One subscription covers everything on this page — there is no upgrade or add-on that unlocks the connector. Connect your store first
- Claude on any plan, Free included — though Anthropic limits Claude's Free plan to one custom connector at a time.
- On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, an owner has to add the connector for the organisation before members can switch it on.
The address you'll need
Skip this if you're taking the directory route — it needs nothing pasted. For the other two, wherever Claude asks for an MCP server URL, this is it. It's the same for every store.
https://api.mercopilot.com/mcpThere's no API key to generate. Claude signs in to Mercopilot the same way you do, and you approve the connection in your browser.
Pick a route — any one of them on its own is enough.
- Route AFrom the connector directory One click in Claude's own catalogue. Nothing to paste.
- Route BClaude desktop, web, or mobile Paste the URL above yourself. Take this one if the directory listing is not available to you.
- Route CClaude Code, in your terminal One command adds it, and one more signs you in.
Route A
From the connector directory
Anthropic vets what goes in the directory, so there's no URL to paste and nothing to configure. You find Mercopilot, click Connect, and sign in.
Open the connector directory
In the Claude sidebar, choose Customize → Connectors, click +, then Browse connectors. On claude.ai you can also get there through Settings → Connectors. Search for Mercopilot.
Click Connect
The listing describes what Mercopilot can see and do. Click Connect — that's the whole of the setup on Claude's side.
On a Team or Enterprise plan there may be no Connect button until an owner has added Mercopilot for the organisation — see the notes below.
Sign in and approve
A Mercopilot window opens. Sign in with your passkey or Google, pick the store you want Claude to work on, and click Authorize.
You can withdraw that approval at any time from your account page.
Switch it on in a chat
Connectors are off by default in each conversation, directory ones included. Start a new chat, click + next to the message box, choose Connectors, and toggle Mercopilot on.
Route B
Claude desktop, web, or mobile
Claude calls this a custom connector. You add it once on your account and it follows you to every Claude app you're signed in to. Worth doing only if the directory listing above isn't available to you — it ends up in the same place by a longer road.
Open your connector settings
In the desktop app, press Ctrl ⌘ + , to open Settings, then choose Connectors in the sidebar. On claude.ai, click your profile picture in the bottom-left corner, then Settings → Connectors.
Add a custom connector
Click Add at the top right of the connector list, then Add custom connector in the menu that drops down.
Paste the Mercopilot URL
Name it Mercopilot and paste the URL into the Remote MCP server URL field:
Remote MCP server URLhttps://api.mercopilot.com/mcpLeave Advanced settings alone — the OAuth client ID and secret fields are for servers that hand out credentials by hand, and Mercopilot registers Claude automatically. Click Add.
Sign in and approve
The new connector appears in the list with a Connect button. Click it, and a Mercopilot window opens. Sign in with your passkey or Google, pick the store you want Claude to work on, and click Authorize.
The window closes on its own and the connector shows as connected. That approval is what lets Claude read your store — you can withdraw it at any time from your account page.
Switch it on in a chat
Connectors are off by default in each conversation. Start a new chat, click the + button next to the message box, choose Connectors, and toggle Mercopilot on.
Route C
Claude Code, in your terminal
One command adds it, and one more signs you in.
Add the server
Run this anywhere:
Terminalclaude mcp add --transport http mercopilot https://api.mercopilot.com/mcpThat registers it for the folder you're in. Add --scope user before the name to make it available in every project on your machine instead.
Start Claude Code and run the /mcp command inside the session. Pick mercopilot, choose Authenticate, and your browser opens on the same sign-in and approval screen as above.

Try it
Ask in plain English. Claude picks the right tool and fills in the details — the first time it uses one, it'll ask you to approve it.
“How is my store doing this month?”
“Where am I losing money right now?”
“What should I do next to grow revenue?”
“Which slow sellers should I discount, and by how much?”
“Restock the Trail Runner 2 to 88 units.”
Anything that changes your store — a price, a title, stock, a discount — is shown to you for approval before it happens. See the full loop
If something goes wrong
- You can't find Mercopilot in the directory
- Search the exact name rather than scrolling. Claude has two catalogue surfaces — the curated web directory that Anthropic vets, and the in-app catalogue, which also carries community-built and local desktop connectors — and they do not list identical sets. If the search comes back empty on a Team or Enterprise plan, it is the next problem down. On any other plan it means the listing is not available to you yet — the custom connector route reaches exactly the same Mercopilot, and it works today.
- There is no Connect button on the listing
- On Team and Enterprise plans only an Owner or Primary Owner can add a connector to the organisation, from Organization settings → Connectors → Browse connectors → Add to your team. Once they have, you connect your own account to it individually — members cannot add it themselves.
- Claude says it doesn't have access, or nothing happens when you ask
- The connector is almost certainly off for that conversation. Connectors are per-chat: open the + menu next to the message box and switch Mercopilot on, then ask again.
- You put the URL in claude_desktop_config.json and nothing appeared
- That file only accepts servers that run locally on your own machine, and it will silently ignore a web address. Mercopilot is a hosted server, so it has to be added as a custom connector — Route B above.
- It asks you to sign in again
- Access expires periodically, and signing out of Mercopilot everywhere ends it immediately. Click Connect on the connector again, or run /mcp in Claude Code and choose Authenticate.
- It replies that there are no stores on your account
- The connection worked but there is nothing behind it yet. Connect Shopify from your dashboard, then ask again — no need to redo any of the steps above.
- There's no Add custom connector option
- On Claude Team and Enterprise plans only owners can add one. Ask an owner to add it in Organization settings → Connectors, after which you can connect to it individually.

Stop asking “how many orders did I get?” Start asking what to fix first
Connect Shopify and see where the money is going — the best seller about to run out, the stock that has stopped moving, the listings costing you the sale. Every fix comes with what it's worth, and getting it done is one word away.
- See the biggest wins first
- Finds it, then fixes it for you
